Have a LOOK 👀 What did I COOK 🌮

Lockdown has locked down a whole lot of avenues and tied us down physically and mentally. Monotony has brought in boredom and stagnation. What does one do?

Well, to unlock myself from these shackles I decided to experiment in the field of cooking.🫕

My cooking may not classify as 100 % cooking but then it is not for any reason Punjabis say ” cooking shooking ” kitta karro kadde kadde.

So allow me to classify my skills more as ‘shooking’ than cooking.

Some say where there is a will, there is a way. I say where there is hunger in you, there comes alive a cook in you. 🍱

To satisfy my hunger pangs after being a burger- LAR 🍔and sand- WICH 🥪 , I decided to foray into the field of SUBS. 🥖

For me, the preparation of food is more of a feeling than a process. I don’t resort to YouTube and follow the process, but I close my eyes, recollect my past experiences of having witnessed its preparation, and assume in my mind the final shape of the product I wish to eat. 🌮

This thinking marinates my taste buds and allows the juices in my mouth and stomach to flow without any resistance.

Believing in my food sense whether it’s 6th or 1st sense, I gather the ingredients on the table. Having collected them and parked them in front of me I allow my intuition to take over. It is ably directed and assisted by the taste buds which guide me to pick and decide the sequence of mixing the ingredients.

For the sub, I decided to balance the taste and the health. For taste, I allowed myself the liberty of two types of mayonnaise and cheese singles 🧈. As I was fixing it up in the oregano sub, I could hear the sound of my home doctor( My Wife) limiting its quantity. The same voice was persuading me to control my emotional connection with cheese and mayo.

With great courage of conviction, I told the same voice in my head not to worry about my insanity as I would balance the Mayo and cheese with healthy and colorful peppers in Red, Yellow, and Green🫑 coupled with lettuce, tomatoes🍅 and onions. I also promised to add peas and corns with a touch of jalapenos.

Once balanced the next level of difficulty was to give closure to the sub. Packed with so much muscle, the sub resisted and resisted the closure. I had to lift it, tap it, stuff it with my bare fingers and finally force it a bit.

The end result was that each of the ingredients decided to hang behind the lettuce and amalgamate in complete harmony.

The sub was ready as I had imagined it to be. It was ready to satisfy the hunger for which my Dad decided to open a bottle of thunder 🍾 The sub was taken out of the dry dock and allowed to get wet with the tomato and mustard sauce.

The sub was ready for its final journey and the voyage began. It set sail from the mouth and entered the depth of the stomach satisfying the soul.

I think I achieved my goal.

In the meantime, Dad Mom, Wife, Daughter, and son also decided to HALLA BOL. 🍽️
